Emmanuel Bonnier: World Record Holder, on the Rise Through Ultra Distance
Emmanuel Bonnier started running in 2017, on a challenge from his brothers Steeve and Yohan. Eight years later, he holds a Guinness World Record, races among the top finishers of some of France's toughest ultra distance events, and is now part of Team ENGO. His next chapter is about climbing further into elite ultra distance racing.
The record that put him on the map
In May 2025, Emmanuel set a Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon run in pajamas, finishing in 2 hours 42 minutes and beating the previous record of 2:46:37. The approval came through just 30 days after the race, an unusually fast turnaround for Guinness certification. The record put him on the map well beyond the ultra running community, but for Emmanuel it was one milestone among many in a training life built on consistency.
Climbing the ultra distance ranks
Emmanuel's results have been trending in one direction. He placed 3rd overall at L'Ultra Marin Grand Raid, a 175 kilometer race, in June 2025, finishing in 15:52:16. One year later, in June 2026, he came back to place 2nd overall on the same course, cutting his time to 15:05:10. In between, he won the Ultra-Trail de l'Ile d'Oléron outright in 7 hours 52 minutes, and holds a marathon personal best of 2:27:46 and a 10 kilometer best of 32:21. Ultra distance racing rarely goes in a straight line: a DNF at the Salomon EcoTrail Paris 80 kilometer race in March 2026 is part of that same climb.
Why he runs
Running reshaped Emmanuel's life beyond racing. In February 2025, he left a career in sales to become a real estate manager, a change he credits directly to the discipline and clarity that training gave him. In his own words: "I'm 100 times more fulfilled. I have considerably less pressure." He also co-founded Sunday Runners, a group that introduces children to running, and races with a resting heart rate of 36 beats per minute, a marker of the aerobic base he has built over years of consistent training.
Training with engo
Emmanuel wears engo3 across his long distance training and racing, from marathon pace work to multi hour ultra efforts. The double tap control and color coded pace and heart rate zones let him read his effort at a glance, and the 20 hour battery life covers even his longest days on the trail without a mid-session recharge.
In his own words:
"Double tap, color coded zones, 20 hours of battery life: engo3 removed every limitation I had. All I have to do is turn on my watch and let the glasses guide me."

What's next
Emmanuel is chasing a sub-2:25 marathon and looking to keep closing the gap at the front of France's biggest ultra distance races. Every block builds toward the same goal: racing longer, racing faster, and proving that the record in pajamas was only the beginning.
His advice to athletes on the fence
For Emmanuel, that is the whole point of running with engo3: fewer things to think about, fewer limitations, and more room to simply follow the data and go.
Discover engo3

Everything runners ask, answered.
Will I even notice a difference?
The engo3 uses fixed tinted lenses (category 3), perfect for very sunny conditions. The engo3 Photochromic features photochromic lenses that automatically adapt to light levels (cat. 0 to 3), making it ideal for changing light conditions.
Is engo3 compatible with Garmin?
Yes it is, with over 81+ models of Garmin devices, plus Apple Watch.
How is engo3 different from Meta Oakley Vanguard?
engo3 is a pure performance display built for serious runners and cyclists: a lightweight AR heads-up display (38.5g) that projects your stats (pace, heart rate, cadence, and more) right in your line of sight, with 20+ hours of battery life and no camera, music, or notifications to distract you.
The Oakley Meta Vanguard is a general-purpose smart glasses product with a built-in camera and Meta AI, giving you sport stats through voice commands or audio rather than a visual display, with about 9 hours of battery life. In short: engo3 keeps your eyes on the road and your data always visible, Vanguard is a multitasking device where sport is one feature among many.
How long does the engo3 battery last?
24+hours
Can I use engo3 for trail running or ultras?
Yes!
Does engo3 have a camera?
No, engo3 doesn't have a camera. It's built purely as a data display: no camera, no music, no notifications, just your real-time stats (pace, heart rate, cadence, etc.) projected in your field of view. That's a deliberate choice to keep it light (38.5g) and focused on performance rather than content capture.
What is the weight of engo3?
38.5 gr
